US EEOC finds Cisco may have violated civil rights of Muslim and Arab employees amid hostile workplace allegations
The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) found in June that Cisco may have violated the civil rights of its Middle Eastern and Muslim employees. This follows allegations of a hostile work environment and anti-Arab/anti-Muslim comments on internal messaging platforms, which arose after employees engaged in activism against the company's technology sales to the Israeli military. Employees also alleged retaliation, including the termination of one staffer for their involvement in pro-Palestine efforts. Legal Aid at Work, which filed the complaint, noted this appears to be the first governmental or judicial finding siding with Big Tech workers on corporate accountability regarding sales to Israel.
